Reese Lee Harper

After a very short, but extremely intense labour, Reese Lee Harper was born at home in New Westminster 5 lbs 10oz. With Mick by my side we tried for a waterbirth this time. Barkley Harper was once again my Doula :) After not very long, I realized that something just didn't feel "right" and we decided not to birth in the water. I am glad I trusted my gut as Reese was born in bed after a few "hiccups" (head turned the wrong way and the cord wrapped around the back of her neck!). With the amazing support & experience of our Midwife, Linda Peters, we had a successful home birth after about 2.5 hours. Sounds short..but it was very exhausting and intense.

Mack the amazing sleeper... napped through the entire VERY LOUD event... and woke up just minutes after Reese's birth. He greeted her with smiles and curiousity. We couldn't have done it without the support of my mother who helped us take care of Mack... as well as me over the last few days since the birth.

There are more photos to come... Thanks for checking out our blog.

Take care, Shauna, listen to your Mom in the next few weeks for some good advice on postpartum care if you want to be pretty and healthy like her at her age. lol.
